The PageRings module provides an easy to use method of tying pages together outside of the menu structure. As an example, you would like visitors to your site to follow a specify flow through a group of pages. Rather than manually putting a link within each page in a text/html or a link module, you can place the PageRings module on any page within a group of pages. The previous methods required that you re-edit the text or link module, if you wanted to add or remove a page from the group. The PageRings module makes it easy to add or remove pages from the group, and have those changes be automatically reflected.
The 3 ways to select pages to be included in a ring are as follows: 1) Child pages, 2) Sibling pages or 3) Selected pages.
- Child pages are the pages directly under your currently selected page, and has the initial PageRings module inserted. This way you have a starting point for the group.
- Sibling pages are the pages that are at the same level in the menu structure.
- The Selected pages group is any page within your site that you select.
A ring can be either continuous or broken. A continuous ring will loop back to the start, while a broken ring will stop a the last page of the ring.
Other features include:
- Images or text for the navigation
- Mouse over image changes
- Showing Alt text on an image; the name of the next page in the ring
- Showing the module's Container, default is not to show the container
- Automatic population or de-population of selected pages in the ring
- XHTML compliant
- Does not add tables or stored procedures to your DNN database, uses DNN Core Methods
