Having played with this module for all of 2 hours, I am impressed. It will certainly do the job I want of it, which is creating a sort of "blog with pictures". I have a few initial suggestions: 1. The only way of sorting the projects at present is by the sort order field (ascending or descending), which always defaults to 100. Would it be possible when adding a new project to default this field to, say, the last sort number entered + 10? This would make it easier to create a sensible order. 2. Alternatively (or as well!) it would be great to have an option in settings that would display a list of all the projects (title, date) and allow you to move a project up or down in the list. When you pressed update, it would change the sort order field. 3. Sorting by date would be nice, but date at present is a text field. 4. Still on sorting, it would be great if the user (not just the admin) had the option to display by date entered (ascending and descending). 5. When you are adding a new project, if you choose upload image, when you have uploaded your image the only option you have presented to you is CANCEL. When you press this, it not only exits the image upload, but also cancels the Add Project, so you have to reenter the information. Obviously you can avoid this by uploading images first, but it has caught me twice! btw, great to see you can now upload a zip file of images, and great that they are all compressed. Also that the thumbnail images appear to be optimsed too! These were, I think, the only "negatives" in Lee Sykes' detail review. |

Would having options on the Order be the solution, where you could indicate either: 1) current method - you enter a value, some enter serial/model numbers 2) Starting value, and increment by value 3) Order by date added Also, the current order includes the following fields: Order, Title or Order DESC, Title. Allowing you to order projects by moving them up or down in the list would work if you were to order by either options 1 or 2 above, but I can't see it working for date added option. Do you see being able to override the date added or having a separate date field - a real date field? A button (either link or radio) could be added to the display to allow the user change the order of the output from Ascending to Descending and vice-versa. Uploading Images: I've thought about removing the Upload link from the 'Add/Edit Project' page. I will look into keeping the values from this page so that I can restore them on return. |

Thanks for detailed reply.
Starting value and increment value sounds like a good idea for sort order. The suggested value (on adding new project) could then presumably be overwritten by anyone using it for serial number etc.
Also, if a user chooses sort by date order, then changes to sort by sort order later, the default values entered would still be meaningful.

I forgot to reply re "real" date field.
I think real date field must be a better option than text, since it has a built-in sort order. The date displayed to the user could perhaps be handled by a Template option, allowing DD-MM-YYYY, MM-DD-YYYY etc, or this putting in too much complication?
Presumably though, changing to a real date field now would mess up existing entries...
