Excuse if I've missed something, but why cannot we modify the height of the uploaded image?

Ideally I'd like my images that show up on details page to be of one width but vary in height.

It really needs an option to have the generated thumbnails resized to specified maximum side lengths, and leave them otherwsie untouched. Currently it only crops or adds whitespace.

First, I will look into your suggestions during this next update.

Are you suggesting that the thumb nail fill the specified size so that there is no fill (that is cropped to size), and the details picture be the a non-proportional size? That is you would specify either a maximum width or maximum height and the picture would be uploaded and sized to the maximum specified and the other size would be in proportion to the original image. For example if the image you upload is 400px wide and 300px high, and the maximum were set for 390px wide, the new height would be 293px ((390 / 400) * 300)?

(NOTE: the 293px is 292.5px rounded up).

As to having the images a specific width and allow the height vary, to some extent, this can be achieved by using fill and setting the BGCOLOR to that of your page's or container's background color. This way you would not get a white background in the fill.

The option I'd be after is the same as all the other gallery modules do it. They never crop and they never fill. They let one specify a maximum size width and height for thumbanils and details images. The module simply sizes the images to fit inside the dimensions - no crop, no fill.

This way one can set a fixed width by specifying a very large height value... or get a fixed height by specifying a very large width.

So if one says: size the thumbs to 100 wide by 1000 high, all thumbs would be the same width, which will do what millerdigital is talking about in the first post.

I do however very much like the option to crop and fill as well, and the Wild Portfolio module is completely unique in that regard.

If all options were available in the module then I would set my thumbnails to be cropped to a fixed sized, and have details images not cropped and not filled, just resized to a set max side. This would give a very tidy thumbnail gallery, with details images that are not messed with.

That's what online galleries like Flickr do in certain views like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raromachine/sets/72157600648363084/

Regards,
Rob
